Internet of Things The Internet of Things is a new emerging technology that is beginning to be embraced by all facets of industry. Data from various devices and sensors can be sent directly to a cloud server for storage and remote access and analysis. Its many uses are; Remote monitoring, fault and alarm reporting, remote diagnosis, historical predictive maintenance analysis etc, even remote control and administration. Imagine being able to view current temperatures, pressures, filter conditions on your mobile phone, miles away from the machine, or the current cycle and status of a long endurance test from the comfort of your home. A PC system could export data directly through its internet connection to a cloud based IOT server, or a PLC could export this data through a gateway device.
Once uploaded, the data can be further downloaded and analysed at will.
